I had a dream That I was floating on my back, Down a river set between Two endless banks, Suspended in white nothing. The pebbles roll at random, Down the left-most shore. The current carries hundreds Bobbing at the surface And lifted to the right. The levees hold the water, It flows in all directions, All is wide and open, The current moves beneath me, And I am lifted to the right.

The Hospital 05:34
Take off your clothes One thread at a time, Make up your hospital Bed next to mine. The pain the hold Is bleeding you dry. Your blood bags are running out, Piled twelve years high. You don't go to sleep, Just lay and obsess. How things would be different, If you could get dressed. You're still seventeen, You'll turn twenty two, Left behind stuck before, This happened to you. But I love you and I will do When this proves too much to bare. I'll lay with you in filthy sheets Slowly dying there. Say when you hurt, I want to know, Don't worry about me, I won't let it show. I think of you always, Of my bad advice, Of feeling so helpless, Of rolling the dice. So I'll take off my clothes, One thread at a time. I'll make up my hospital, Bed intertwined. We'll lay ourselves down And sleep for a while, Exist in our lonely beds, In our hospital aisle.

An Art Thief 02:59
I am an old woman, Named after my mother. I am an art thief, I forge and replace. I tumble down stairs, in pitch dark. I scrabble and scratch. I throw it all in, 'til it sits right. Wearing a wire, invoice pad in hand.
4.
An Offering 06:29
Late night, Sitting up waiting for nothing. Lamp light, Hoping I'll shake off this feeling. Read aloud, Slipped off the plain where you struggled. Quiet, Seeing myself in you I sing. ------ Have me for dinner, Eat me for breakfast, I'll be alright, I'll be yours. I'll be your prisoner, I'll be your sinner, I'll be alright If you'll help me to give this a chance, Then have me for dinner, Eat me for breakfast, The rest tastes the same, sallow and bland. ------ Farewell, To a poet, a writer, a person. I asked around, No highway can bring you back, On holiday, The crickets are mourning in plainsong. I read Snow, Comfortable in strange meaning. ----- Have me for dinner, Eat me for breakfast, I'll be alright, I'll be yours. I'll be your prisoner, I'll be your sinner, I'll be alright, If you'll help me to give this a chance Then have me for dinner, Eat me for breakfast, The rest tastes the same, sallow and bland.

Goodbye, old house. It's time. There's flames in your halls, And mine. When i packed up my things, years ago I wasn't traveling light. Brought everything with me but the kitchen sink, In cardboard boxes enshrined. Now my house is bursting, ready to explode, With all the things in my mind. If I could go back, I don't know that I would. I've thought it sometimes. Picture young streets, Long nights. There's blood on my hands From short fights. Now I leave my children, bones and dust, Eaten by time. I leave the blame, the things that were said, The guilt spattered wall. Footprints and shadows and running up stairs, Dustless sparkle. Small indistinct figures in darkened rooms Will one day be tall. Goodbye old fire, Ashen frame. Goodbye old ghosts, Now few. I'm sitting alone again, Writing this song, Writing my book. Thinking of histories, Weighing on spines. Wood into leaves.

about

Eyeless Records are delighted to present this new 5 track EP by Winnipeg, MN a multi disciplinary artist who has already wowed Eyeless and fans with his debut album “Love In Life And Death” released at the end of last year. With this EP Winnipeg, MN brings a clarity and urgency to the electronics and production whilst the bouzouki lends real warmth and the electric guitar soars. However floating between these spaces is the gentle and mournful and lush vocals of Jamie Moore himself at times almost achingly tender and heartfelt.

The EP is available to stream and as a bandcamp dld and super ltd 10” clear vinyl lathe cut with handstamped individually printed artwork and dld code.
Hurry as this item is sure to sell out!

In the artists words:

2020

Bouzouki Songs is a five track EP inspired by, and partially written on, the island of Crete. All of the songs were initially composed on a six-string Greek bouzouki, in an effort to produce music that sounds and feels atypical of the traditional folk instrument. They were later arranged with largely electronic instrumentation, whilst keeping the bouzouki at the core of each composition.

The EP was influenced by a time of reflection, as well as the ancient natural landscape of Crete - clear oceans, sweeping mountains and craggy caverns. It maintains an almost pop melodic sensibility throughout, though the arrangement is often esoteric (808 + bouzouki is a surprisingly effective combination) and the initial compositions arrived at this point through the avoidance of the folk music that the titular instrument so well lends itself to. Musically I was influenced by Greek folk music and bouzouki technique (despite the apparent lack of it), as well as Big Red Machine, John Prine, Big Thief, The Antlers, PJ Harvey...
(I can also see it being one of, if not my only, release with a big electric guitar solo on it, so I reckon that definitely makes it worth a listen.)
